reaper remembers the last folder, but the actual files don't appear here until I change folders can anyone confirm this?

If you mean in the project directory at the top it seems to sometimes do this and other times it's fine. I think this behaviour is typical of windows in regards to it needing to be refreshed to see new files but not sure why sometimes it is auto refreshed and others it's not.

I know what it is now the filter text box is automatically filled in with "filter" why? that's so annoying and useless oi!

your issue is not happening here. Folders are remembered. Files are displayed. And the Filter text in the filter box is not doing anything bad here. weird .t
