RE: DVD from PAL to NTSC

Happygolucky and all newbies which need help with PAL to NTSC DVD conversions (and want to do it fast), I investigated a little bit and I was surprised what I found. There is an easier way to do it by IFOedit. I would call that the most elegant way (and definitely the shortest!) even though the result is not so perfect like when you do it through video and audio encoding. You can not have everything perfect, right? You invest less time but get worse picture quality, sound is OK. Check this thread out: This trick was initially posted by Denis1968 on dvdrhelp forum (thanks to Denis!). For my PAL DVD it worked very well and I was pleasently surprised. Good luck!

RE: DVD from PAL to NTSC

I don't know much about this subject at all, but I am surprised I never hear anybody mention ProCoder. It seems to have inbuilt conversion routines which are as simple as drag and drop, both PAL>NTSC and NTSC>PAL. I notice I can start an encode with dvd2svcd using ProCoder and let it prepare all files and the vfapi.avi or link2 avi. Then stop D2S, and simply drag the link2.avi into procoder and select PAL svcd as the target. Away it goes and the file produced looks good and seems to have all the right sizing and frame rate. I would think you could then just use the besweet gui to convert the sound to 25 fps and mux them. Am I clueless, or has anybody tried this?

I didn't know that about Procoder, I will have to try that the next time I have a PAL movie to convert. For the audio I did use BeSweet (with the AC3Machine frontend) to do the rate change and it worked beautifully.

RE: DVD from PAL to NTSC

I am 'still' trying to convert my PAL DVD's to DVD-r NTSC... I am following the Guide (Authoring DVD-9 -> DVD-5 Quality over Speed) that uses Scenarist, Doitfast4U, DoCCE4U, etc. I added the lines on my AVS files (before using CCE) that were written on the guide to DeInterlace the video also. I selected ALL on DoItFast4U so I could make a complete conversion, I don't know if what I am doing is ok, what I am trying to do is change all the videos to NTSC using MainConcept and the AC3Machine (or something like that, I don't recall its name) since this guide is supposed to create the DVD back as where it was before authoring, so I get the chance to add even more subtitles or even Audio Tracks. Do I get the right idea? ...or am I doing it wrong? ...right now I am letting CCE to encode and De-Interlace my film.... then, before importing everything into Scenarist I am plnning to convert all the video and Audio to NTSC Will this work? (Yes, I want to keep all the extras and the menus, the Original DVD is a PAL DVD-5)

RE: DVD from PAL to NTSC

Ok... I couldnt do it with the ReAuthoring way, however I finally made a great DVD convesion, complete. What I did is Reauthor it, using DVDDecrypter, found the menus and then by file mode used on the Settings By Cell ID. I used DVD Lab to 'recreate' the menus and I converted everything else (the m2v's) into NTSC, using Main Concept MPEG Encoder And it turned out to be great... Now I am deinterlacing..... With DoItFast4U, just checked Deinterlace and let it do all for me, and now is doing the CCE thing. I hope it gets deinterlaced and look excellent. Please tell me if I am doing it ok. Thanks.
