How to change vst instrument presets without opening vst

Is there a quicker way of selecting presets of a vst than pressing fx on the channel strip and scrolling in the vst interface? On another popular daw there was a box on the channel strip that allowed you to quickly scroll through presets.

(keep trace of what selected, select in background the track i know the name, do the change, select previous selected tracks.

A script could even pop up a menu of all the listed presets, I think.
