external hard drives

external hard drives 

could someone give me some info on how to set up a system to record on a external drive? would like the internal drive to run the program and the external to record the music. Im not sure how to ask the question. just getting started using protools, not feeling comfortable with some areas. also im having trouble getting a maudio midisport 4x4 to recieve midi info from the computer to the unit no problem with the adat and 2 seqs sending info to protools. im running protools 7. on a dell with a doucore p4.

To record onto an external drive, just save your protools session onto it.. everything you record will then be saved into the session's "Audio Files" folder on the external drive. Protools will still run from your internal drive, as normal... I dunno about the midisport thing though...
