Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum so sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place... I made the switch from Logic on Mac to Reaper on Pc in the last couple of weeks, and so far I'm just lovin' it. But today... ARGH!! After a long recording session yesterday (saved, computer shut down with no issues), when I tried to open the project today I got an error (error persing the specific project, I think). Looks like it happens when it's loading some audio tracks. Now, these guys will come here today to mix and I can't even open the project! The only thing I can think that I've done differently was to save the project at a certain point with the suffix 2, and not checking the box for including the files. I tried to upload the project file but it's too big. Please help, I'm screwed :(
1. What was the exact error message? 2. Backup everything 3. Even if you can't open the project file, you can re-create it if you still have the audio files. And you don't have to position them manually. Drag the WAV files on to a new project, select them, then call the action: Move items to source preferred position. 4. Save 5. Backup 6. Turn on autosave Good luck!
There was a lot of editing going on... Jeez, if that's really the case, I'm gonna ditch Reaper... It's the second project I'm doing and already I've lost hours of work... Hope there's a way to get everything back to work.
Sometimes it just crashes after aloooong time of loading an audio file, other times it says Error Parsing The Specified Project

A few things to check out: -- do you have any back-up project files in the folder where you saved the project -- if so, try opening those AND IMMEDIATELY Save it with a new name -- or try opening the project with the plug-ins off-line - from the File: Open button -- temporarily move the audio files into another folder and try opening the project -- what sort of sizes are the audio clips used in the project? OR send the project file to Cockos Support so that they can see what is causing the parsing error.

reaper project is just a text file, so you can open it a notepad and look for corrupt data part, likely at the very end of the file. if there was no major crash, most of the data should be there and fairly easily recoverable. you could upload the file here so someone with experience could look at it and help you analyze/recover the issue. best, e
