Washing Disc - Solves problems !

Most of the time I split DVD's to 2 DVD-R's with ifoedit i then create and img file the burn to disk. I have been using Datasafe Gen 3 DVD-R as i have found them to be very reliable and cheap! But on occasion when playing them back in my set top player (Pioneer 717), i get pixelation, stops, pauses skips etc... from a clean disk just burnt! Now just by chance a cleaned a disk with tissue and tap water then dryed it with another tissue and VOLIA! it played back perfectly!!!!!:D This has worked for several disks that i have had the problems with. Has anyone else come across this? or a reason as to why? I thought it might be a thin layer left over from the manufacturing process which is distorting the pick up laser of my set top Player(maybe 'cos its not as strong as my pc one) and washing it removes the layer....

RE: Washing Disc - Solves problems !

yes derrow. this is really bad with princo media. I thought i talked about this in a post b4 hmmm... You wipe off the disc EVEN after a fresh burn and the disc works sometimes. THe problem with this is the "finish" of princo discs (i had problems BAD probelms with prinoc about this). The edges of the princo (try scratching them) are not well made and you see small specks that fall off. If you get those over the top of yoru disc (it's almost invisible) then your player's laser won't read the discs properly. Makes you wonder about the integrity of princos........I say stay away from them.
