Self-extracting projects. Single file, double-click it and it opens an instance of Reaper with the project/audio files loaded. This would ROCK for long-distance collaborations etc. I know nobody else would like this, but I thought I'd throw it out there! :D

I second this! It would be nice indeed. I liked the way Tracktion did this. To achieve something like this it would basically only need a way "export as archive" for saving and an "extract archive to" for opening. The archive could be a zip for instance. Shouldn't this be very fast to implement? fladd

I was even thinking it could include Reaper itself...

would also be nice if freeware vst dlls as well as impulse, samplebanks, etc.. associated with vsti's could be included as well; so the person can run the project just as you did.

Indeed - that's where the 'self extraction' comes in. Like those nifty little self-decompressing files you can send to people who don't have WINRAR. It would be one file, you'd click it, and an instance of Reaper would open complete with the project (and files) already loaded and ready to go. IMO, that would rock very, very hard for long-distance collaborations. I know it's easy to ZIP a project and the audio files etc, but (being involved in a band at the moment that swaps files back and forward as often as we have actual rehearsal time) I know that this is beyond the typical abilities of, say, a drummer or bass-player. Imagine if you just clicked 'file', then 'Reapress the project' (or whatever), and there was just this stand-alone file that could be opened on ANY PC, with no further software required... That would be sci-fi. That would rate at least 500 points.
