With the announcement of PT 6.1 at the NAB, there is still no auto delay compensation. I guess this is just another pipe dream promise that Digi has been selling and promising us for a while now. If its not going to happen, I wish they would just come out and say it.
RE: PT 6.1...and still no auto delay compensation!!!
Why is it so important? If I insert an analog Comp for example, it have some little delay, is it true? And in analog mixers we'd worked this way always. Are the phase problems so important with litlle delays? Thank's

One of the problems is if you are recording through an effect onto another track and need to drop in there will be a hole in the recording while the latency catches up. Makes for horrible gaps and clicks. Chime in with other issues now guys....

The only time it should be a huge problem is when using multiple mics on one source. For ex. Live drums. I don't see how it's a problem with other things like Bass & Guitar. If the Bass player had played his part 2-4 samples late, would you make him redo his part because of smear. I just don't hear that buld up that everyone talks about. On multiple mic stuff it is an issue. And as far as playing into plugins and avoiding latency: Pro Tools is amazing software, but it can't see into the future. Just my you know.
