Why can't nero finish out burning on dvd-r?

I have a DVR-105, when using Nero to burn a dvd data disc its keep giving me the Multi-write error and when Nero get to the point way it finish out the disc write it said that could not close disc. Is it ok to use a dvd-r as a data dis insted of a movie or is the Re-writable is the way to go for data dvd. I'm new to all this dvd thing. I just burn my first dvd movie using dvd-decrypt. Thank you to all for your help.

Nero has a very chequered history. What version are you using ? I believe the very latest version is 5.5.10.20 HomerJ :)
