Installing Independence Free

MessageAuthor

Hey, does anyone have any tips for getting Reaper to recognize Independence Free? I've installed twice into the same directory that I do all my plugins. Jamstix, Broomstick Bass, Shortcircuit, Proteus, etc. have all installed flawlessly. Been messing around for a couple hours now with this and I just can't figure it out. The standalone version loads fine. I've had Reaper "scan for new plugins" too. Still no result. Just doesn't show up in the list. Any thoughts? Enjoy the day. Greymantis

RE: Installing Independence Free

OK, it's been a long time since I did this but here goes. First, I have a copy of Independance Free.dll in my Reaper/Plugins/FX folder. I don't know if that's strictly necessary but it's there. Also, during installation, you should have specified the path to the Independance Basic Path - that's the path to the folder called 'Independance Free Basic Path'. If you open the standalone version and click on Preferences, you'll see where this is specified and can probably update it if necessary. That's all I can say, apart from doing what you've already done to get Reaper to refresh it's FX list. Hope that helps.

I put the independence.dll in the plugin folder... Worked right away. Maybe the install placed it somewhere else? In the program files folder? As that can happen sometimes...

Wow, you guys are good! I looked around and found the independencefree.dll just dangling around randomly on the C drive. Put it in its more proper, assigned position and that fixed all. Can't thank you enough. Enjoy the day. Greymantis

RE: Installing Independence Free

Slightly OT but i've been playing around with independence free this last week and have had it crash reaper 4 times. I couldn't reproduce the problem exactly but it was happening when the track was playing back and i tried to open the midi editor. Anyone else had any problems like this with independence free ? Cheers

Wolffman, can't reproduce your crash. Independence has been very stable here. I find the drums and percussion to be very good. I prefer them over EZDrummer.

Well, I gave it a try and wow, I'm impressed! Great drum kits there. It did crash on me once. Seems it doesn't like changing instruments while REAPER is playing.... Was stable after that though.
