replacement CD player wont power up

Hi all, Our 2 year old recently jammed a coin in the loading slot of our XC90 front-loading 6 Cd player. On removal of the unit we found the loading mechanism to be damaged and not repairable. I sourced a 2nd hand unit from a scrappie and have had it fitted but now it won't power up. The radio itself works as normal but when you press the CD button the entire unit powers down. Is it possible that there is a security code of some sort on the CD player that won't allow it to function in a different vehicle? Any help greatly appreciated.

These units are software driven and as such chassis specific. In other words it will only work in the original vehicle. New units are 'blank' until software is loaded to make them work, this goes for all control unit types of electronics. Paul.

Thanks Paul. Got it sorted, dismantled the two units and swapped the loading mechanism from the replacement one into the chassis of the damaged one. Worked a treat.:Banane52:
