Telephone Interface

Just curious what people might be using for a telephone interface. I've been researching this a bit, but was wondering what units anyone on here might know about that provide the best outcomes when using a standard phone line interfaced to the board/Digi 001. Thanks. FrankLP

RE: Telephone Interface

Hi, Are you wanting to record your phone into Pro Tools through the Digi 001? Just making sure I understand what you are asking before I launch off into an answer.... --joe

Me too, Frank. I wasn't even aware there was an actual interface to plug a phone straight in to a board, though no doubt there is. But, the Waves Q10 plugin is super for this, and even has a 'telephone' setting under 'Load' that's great. OR, an easy alternative is just Digi's 1-band EQ. Either of these will make a straight miked vocal sound like it's coming through the phone. good luck with it.... -Roy

RE: Telephone Interface

Do you want a telephone sound? Or are you just trying to record telephone conversation? If you need just the "sound", there are several EQ presets for vaious plugings that help achieve this. Secondly, you can go buy on old rotary phone and convert the jack plug into a 1/4" or XLR connector. If you are needing to just record the phone conversation, you will something like a Telos, or a Getner. I do not know how much these cost, but you can rent them from any company that does broadcast equipment rental. They are easy to use. Both have XLR and other types of outputs that will easily interface with your DIGI hardware.
