delete or mute a selection

I wonder if its possible to mute or delete a selection of a track. Now i need to perform a few command in sucsession but i want it quicker. just make a selection and with one keyboard key mute or delete this selection

I 2nd this question. In audacity it's made pretty easy with 1 of 2 buttons where you can either mute the selection, or mute everything outside of the selection. Comes in really handy.

Got it working now with a macro assigned to one keyboard key.
