On my lite laptop (no VST's, barebones setup) it's almost instant, at least no different than 2.58. I'll have to see how fast it loads on my music laptop (with VST's and projects). By the way, I couldn't find the file "reaper-reginfo.ini" in the REAPER folders.
Sorry to drag this up again, but it's just started happening to me. If I run ccleaner it's ok for a coupl eof instances - but then goes back to hanging at 'initializing registration info' and my hard drive sounds like its going to explode for about 10 secs then all ok. Any thoughts?
I get this too WTF? Its take at leasst 1 min 48 seconds(missisipi included lol) Any Sure fix yet, I ve seen the above suggestions but nobody ever confirmed if it worked for them. PS I dont even have this problem on my Dell inspiron 1501 with the EXACT same plugins. But its a problem on my pc with a dual core 2.88 ghz 4g RAM 1TB HD Please help. Thanks guys
Nope, Im getting it now too. I was with 3.31 forever, and unfortunately, Reaper has become a bit more wonky over the last few months for me. Its got to be a VST issue, perhaps.... So what then? What if I have a mile long list of VST's? Picking the bad one would be tough.

I get the "Initializing Registration" issue also. It is not trying to load a project. I just double-click the Reaper Icon to start the program. The odd thing is that sometimes it starts in 1-2 seconds and sometimes it takes 30-40 seconds. I have had this issue for the past few versions. It's not new. Whether it is a fresh boot of windows or not doesn't affect it. Core2Duo 2.66 Win XP SP3.
I seriously doubt this would be it but here's something to throw in the pot: Im using Reaper via a different User Profile in Vista 32 than the one I used to initially install Reaper. (I know, I doubt it too but...). Of course it has Admin level privilege, but dunno....just putting it out there. Im still of the mind to blame a VST or something however. Has anyone tried to save off their App Data files or whatever, re-install Reaper, try it then, replace their user settings files and then tried another time?
Well B4 is just an old plugin and Reaper is a whole host, what do you expect? somebody bite

it comes up nice and fast for me on very old XP SP2 systems and faster on the dual core cpu... way under 10 sec's... unless it's a first run of a new update... that might take up to 30 sec's the first time and then it's fast again for all starts after that. Compared to Cubase [which requires me to go to lunch and come back later] Reaper is light lightening.
