Reaper Takes Longer to Start Up Than B4

Namely, "initialising Registration Info". Whatever that means. Whatever it is it adds about 30 sec. to the overall startup time on all of my machines.

30 seconds!?! wow. Reaper usually takes about 5-8 seconds total when opening for me.

Are you trying to open a project with any VSTi's already loaded? If I open a project with any samplers or drum machines in them it takes several seconds to load all the samples into RAM.

Same here! Takes forever; even if no project is being loaded. It's just the opening sequence " Initializing Registration" Not sure if its related but I first noticed it after I bought the Rocket compressor. Related or just coincidence?

Hmmm... 5 secs here on a crappy old Athlon XP 3200... Beats me... D EDIT: Even faster on the "audio only" boot partition...

Mmmm 10 secs (including scanning hundreds of Vsts) on my crappy old XP 3000 Athlon no brand.

Just speculation: Possibly anything rewired?

Q6600 with 2gigs of ram. Nicely defragged on a Raptor HD. The Initialization screen was 30 seconds, the total time to start was 41. Loading a Sample Tank project with 4 channels of midi and 2 audio tracks. Nothing Rewired.

I still wonder if its the Rocket registration I bought Phoning Home as I didnt notice this problem until then. Reaper loaded in a snap.

The Rocket does NOT "phone home"...nor do any of our plugins. If you click on the intro screen when the plugin is not registered, it will take you to our website, but that's it. In other words, it will never make ANY connection to the outside world unless YOU make it do so. Scott
