Yep, same here. I think it began with version 2.52. Startups used to be near instant now it sits on the reg bit for 20secs or so, as if it is trying to find it.
Thanks for the great plugin Scott. I wasnt being critical of Rocket; in fact I love it! That is about when the problem showed up and since other than it nothing has been added to my Vst/ plugins I was just curious.

Thanks for advice. Reaper startup took unbearable 1 min 10 secs for me. Then I removed all plugin directories from preferences - startup took 5 secs. Then I re-scanned the plugin directories - now all the plugins are there and startup time is about 8 secs. Fine! I still don't know what caused the problem - perhaps some kind of hang-up of an unregistered plugin.

FYI - Same thing here - Killed the VST directories - then re-entered them, rescanned them. No, 2 minute wait for the registration info screen. Some odd bug, either VST or cache type dealbob I'm guessin. Cheerio - Z
I've never had the registration problem but if I did the 1st thing I would do would be to remove Reaper/Clean the registry with my,"Trusted" registry cleaners and then re-install the latest version. I would also rename the file. reaper-reginfo.ini to reaper-reginfo.iniold and re-enter the details just in case.I also have the Reaper flash screen disabled when loading. And before anyone pipes in and says this reg cleaner and that reg cleaner caused problems note I've been using registry cleaners I've tested since win95 with put problems. The ones that caused problems I've never recommended and the crappy original MS one was a bad joke that was soon found out years ago. Note:I still recommend a comprehensive back up the system in any case as per,
Well shoot. This hang during the "initializing registration information" issue has resurfaced. It goes away for a few boots after removing the VST directories and re-scanning, then returns and will hang for up to a full minute during boot. Frustrating. Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this in a permanant type of fashion or what the root cause maybe? Thanks, Z
getting this too and I'm on Quad 2.8 gigs, 2 x SATA II drives, 3 gigs ram and erm the computer is only 1 month old tops. This is defo a problem with Reaper unless all of our computers are screwed?? My Audio drives are not a sleep and it does it pretty much every single boot up. So would also like this issue resolved if possible :)

If you haven't already try my above post. Start/Search and type Reaper.Find and rename the file reaper-reginfo.ini and rename it reaper-reginfo.iniold Start Reaper and re-enter your details when prompted. This will create a new registration file and hopefully fix the problem.
