Aagh, sustain won't stop!

Hi folks, I'm using sfz to play a piano soundfont, and for some reason when I stop playing the sustain continues sounding until I press the sustain pedal to turn it off. Why is this? Do I have a midi setting somewhere in Reaper wrongly configured? Is it an issue with my midi keyboard (its a proper Yamaha piano, and has always been fine in the past)? Its not the soundfont I don't think as I've been using it for years. Any ideas? Thanks a lot, BJ EDIT: Gah... It's stopped now. Sorry to waste your time.

Does this happen with other VSTis too? If so, the pedal's polarity is most probably the reason for this. See if there's a switch on yr ped. (last yamaha ped I had had none) or check the piano's manual for 'polarity'. Dirty trick that works w some keyboards that automatically detects polarity: Hold the pedal down while turning the piano off and on. (I wouldn't be surprised if this is possible to change w reaper, but not sure how, sry)

You could also try to go to "Options -> Preferences -> Audio -> MIDI Devices" and tick "Send all-notes off" and/or "Reset CC". -Data

If you have used Control Change 64 to turn sustain on (its a straight on/off command) then you need to give that CC a value of less than 64 (Zero is good) to stop it. Usually .... CC64. Value 127 = ON Value 0 = OFF It might be also in sfz that you have set the Release slider all the way up. That will keep a note going for ages sometimes.
