Post production improvements for v4

Advertising

MessageAuthor

I am creating this thread since I didn't see anyone addresing the topic. The one feature I'd like is to be able to snap to frames. When composing to picture, it would be really cool to work in any bpm and still be able to snap to frames. Maybe the grid should have a beats/frames option... What do you guys think?

Also, video in 64 bit is not working properly, as it happens in v3. I can use the 32 bit version of course, but it would be nice to have it fix so we can use 64 bit cappabilities when working wtih video.

dunno if it qualifies as post per se, but would still love to be able to rip audio tracks from CD into reaper a la vegas, nuendo, etc. and conversely be able to render to CD a la samplitude. (i.e. straight from inside the app)

On the topic of Post, is there a way to copy the exact settings on preferred aspects of a track to another section of the track? E.g. If i like an EQ, compressor and send to a reverb from one scene and want to copy it to another scene can I? If so how? This, if possible in r4, would be the bees knees!

I've already expressed my concern on another thread about the lack of improvements specific for working with film in R4 - video support in x64 systems is just workable if you take some time before starting to in the music itself to separate sound and image into different tracks, be sure about the codec you're using... +1 for beat/frame grid Note: ruler values and their lines seem not to match the grid lines below in frames unit format, is this a bug or am I missing something?

RE: Post production improvements for v4

What you require are in fact just Time Grids. Right now, Reaper can only do Bars and Beat grids, but it is on the agenda. I miss those grids too. They're very important for video work, because you often need to be ON FRAME EDGES. I hope this is on the agenda for v4 as well. Time grids. Btw, music-to-picture composers often require both Bars&Beats and time-based grids at the same time. The time rulers are also spread out in a bad way. The priorities are not fully realized it seems. It does not draw markings as one would expect and as they'd be most practical. For example, the interval priorities for time code should be: 1 hour, 30 minutes, 15 minutes, 10 minutes, 5 minutes, 2 minutes, 1 minute 10 seconds, 5 seconds, 2 seconds, 1 second 5 frames, 1 frame 1/2 frame, 1/4 frame, 10 subframes(10th frame), 1 subframe(subframe grids only) Those come first. If I'm looking at 10 minutes of material in the arrangement, it is not helpful to see timecodes like 10:15:13 somewhere in the time ruler. Nobody makes clocks that have markings at 23 minutes past one either for example. The priorities are done properly for Bars and Beats rulers, but not for time-based rulers. Intervals for Second - 1000 , 100, 50, 10, 5, 2, 1. This I hope is easier to do that time-based grids.
