new hd3accel system having LOTS of chrashes.......

I had the same problem. When switching the Playback Engine or just even opening and closing the Playback Engine window would crash ProTools. I finally found the problem: a faulty core card. Card was brand new.

I just moved a flawless MacG4DP500/OS9.2.2/PT5.3.1 system over to G5/OS10.3.2/PT6.7, so I it's not a faulty card issue. I wonder if it relates to the 32bit Digi 7slot exp chassis? Although, the expansion chassis also was part of the old configuration. Actual operation of the system has been pretty good. No beach balls, and only one crash during operation. The system just sometimes "unexpectedly" shuts down when loading a session (not a particular one) and so far has "unexpectedly" shut down every time I have tried to change elements of the playback engine (I get the dialog about closing and reopening the session, click ok, it closes, but then shuts down when reloading the session. The only other idea I have relates to plugins. It seems like the unexpected shut down happens while loading plugins in a session... so maybe there's a conflicting plugin? They should all be up to date, because I downloaded all the newest versions before firing up the new configuration. Input greatly appreciated. Thanks, Nic
