Inspired by very nice idea in the Music Player forum, maybe it would be nice and interesting if even here the anonymous members can reveal to others what they normally do, maybe also their names, location etc. ... It is very nice to discuss very interesting things with people at this forum and could be sometimes even more interesting and more personal to know more about them, not just being labeled with an anonymous nickname ... Ivo, Funny, you share the same name as one of my favourtite musical influences... Ivo Watts Russel, founder of 4AD. So are there any mp3's (mantages perhaps?) of your work? It would be nice to have a teaser of your performances and art to view prior to purchasing. I am very intrigued by your work, however I don't regularly consume 13 cd's of artists I've never heard of. At the risk of totally being flamed here, I think most people on his board work within the relatively safe confines of contemporary western pop music. For most it's all about conforming to a genre, being accepted and working within the existing music industry paradigm to move product. For others it may be more about their toys and how many mghz their machines are and other trivial matters, how great their converters are and such. So you might have a bit of a challenge to get people to open up as you have. I myself am in San Francisco, CA and am a musician / songwriter currently working on stuff with a female vocalist. We mainly work within the realm of dark ambient / ethereal music that borrows on many influences and traditions. From middle eastern to western classical to the more contemporary ambient soundscapes. However, we have no aspirations to ride the coat tails of the "world music" and other rather opportunistic trends. Would love to hear from more diverse artists on the DUC. It's the main reason I frequently post / look around; the possibility to be exposed to people who are pushing the art form to another level. Off the top of my head, Danielle or "Doc" has been the closest to my lofty ideal of what music can be about. Transcending this world and body, it's a beautiful thing. Again, would love to hear samples of yours or others work. I am always in search of inspiring individuals. We'll have samples soon, but we're obsessive compulsive of what gets out. C'mon people share your thoughts. Henry Lee
Hey Ivo & DKRZ, I'm right in the middle of packing to move, so I'll get to this stuff in a few. Looking forward to hearing your stuff... Ivo, I might just buy a cd of yours after I move and get situated at my new address. Henry
Hey Ivo, Exactly what I figured would happen... so where's this other forum you're talking about? Music Player? Who hosts it? After my initial response to this thread I even entertained the thought of setting up my own UBB discussion / forum on my server. As much as I like technology and enjoy messing with it, I find myself bored and wanting to find unique people that are a bit more focused on art rather than gear. Then again, I'm sure most of the people I admire don't sit around endlessly posting on corporate forums. (maybe I should listen to my own advice here.) I'm exhausted from packing today. I'll get to your cd's and links tomorrow. Henry Lee
