Here is a video of what I would like to know how to do in Reaper. I tried looking it up and couldn't find it. I know how to jump to the next transient but when I hit paste the one shot I copied lands on the main track I am trying to replace parts on instead of in the track where I copied the one shot.
I suggest using Drum Trigger instead of manually pasting the sample. You can have the track you wish to replace or augment SEND to your replacement track. Then on that track, use ReaGate to "tune" it to really listen for the sound you want to replace. For example, if you have the track from the snare mic, and you don't want to have a snare sound play when the kick bleeds through. Then have Drum Trigger replace the sound with the sample. This also makes it easy to audition different samples after you've set it up. You could also use MIDI into a software sampler to get some easy dynamics. Again use a send and ReaGate and check Play midi note on open/close. Record that midi and use that midi track to play ShortCircuit for example. There are infinite possibilities. Someone else might be able to help you do it the way you wish like in the video more efficiently, but this is my suggestion.
the video starts with playing the original (multicahnnel) loop, kick and snare (the other channels arent routed, they dont "play") then i change the multichannel wav to mono (kick), and i tranient-paste the multitaked kick hits. then i change the "guide" track to the snare and do the transient-paste again. then i change samples (velocity/roundrobin) and then mix/blend to taste.
I found the awesome free plugin that lets you trigger on a percussion sounds, set by freq range (snare, kick etc) then replace it with a chosen sample.
Ah yes, i guess what i was asking is how did you do the pre-cueing/multitaked part. Thanks for the link on the cue stuff. I'll do some research on that as i have no idea about it right now. :)

we can save these "kits" / container hits as TrackTemplates, so its easy to build a library, and easy to load em. the instant "pre-copy" after loading a Template is possible too, i guess. (macro)
