My family has a Direct TV satellite system. I just recently got a miniDV camcorder that has S-Video and that combined stereo audio and video input/output 3.5mm jack on the side of the camcorder. I was tinkering with recording straight from the dbs receiver into my camcorder using S-Video for the video signal. The video is fine. My problem is the audio... when I transfer the tape over to the computer via firewire and look at the audio signal waveform it's been recorded at stereo but only the left channel waveform (mono) is there. Other recordings (of the family pets) on the tape are full stereo waveforms. The mono tracks from the stuff recorded off the satellite even play mono out of my audio receiver hooked to the computer via S/PDIF. I have to convert the stereo composite RCA audio cables coming from the dbs receiver to a stereo mini-jack plug so I can plug it into the camcorder with an adapter. I've tried many different combos, but it still is just mono! Anyone else have this problem or have tried this?! Help!
