I've just discovered that Reaper offers many differents pan laws (0db, -2.5, -3, -4, -6 and a boost compensation option) and differents pan modes (stereo balance, stereo pan,, dual pan, 3.x balance)... What do you use and why?
Thanks for the explanation. One thing that i don't understand is why if i set a pan law of -3db in reaper i got 0db at left (or right) and -3db at center for all tracks (stereo and mono), while if i set pan law -3db in cubase i got that behavior only for mono tracks, while stereo tracks seems to have the 0db pan law. Every daw has its own standard about pan laws?
Since Reaper only really works with stereo tracks, it differs a bit from how mono tracks are handled in other daws. I recommend working with the pan-mode with the width-control, after you get the hang of it it's really powerful and intuitive. Important point >>> IF you want to work with pan laws other than zero, you will need to manually adjust the pan laws of ALL tracks used as folders/parents for other tracks. This is an inconvenience, but I just do it by default now.
