First of all, my apologies for posting in your forum when I'm an M-powered user, but I think my question applies to USB audio in general (with Pro Tools). I'm trying to figure out why my setup (which is one of Digi's recommended setups) can't playback a single stereo file (no plugins). I get stutters and crackles and sometimes the following error; 'You are running out of CPU power. Remove some RTAS plug-ins or increase the CPU Usage lmit in the Playback Engine dialog (-9128)'. My suspicion now is that USB audio and this motherboard don't go together. (None of my USB audio cards including the Transit for Pro Tools work very well). So has anyone else used this motherboard with a USB card with success? Thanks for any answers, this is driving me crazy! shortwave ASUS A8N-E motherboard AMD64x2 3800 CPU 2GB Corsair RAM Gigabyte PCI-E GV-NX66256DP (NVIDIA GeForce 6600) 2x Samsung 250Gb Sata drives Suggestions / optiisations I've tried: - All the optimisations suggested in the getting started manual; (DMA, switch off clear type, power to 'Always on', disable 'Cool and Quiet' in BIOS, background sheduling etc.) - Applied the AMD Dual Core Optimiser. - Applied the WinXP dualcore hotfix. - Turned off graphics acceleration and unchecked 'Enable Write Combining'. - from forum member K Bartos -- removed the switch /usepmtimer from the boot.ini -- set affinity for PT to only one core (forces PT to only use one core).
