What's the specific DAE code? Is it DAE -6042? or something different? If it's -6042, that means the PCI bus is overloaded. If you're running lots of automation, try thinning it. Also, if you're using a SCSI accelerator, make sure it's not running in Ultra mode. If the error you're seeing is something other that -6042, you should make sure to post this problem to the Mac Troubleshooting section so Bryan can see it. He'll be able to tell you what's going on. Sorry for not having a clearer answer. --Steve Rosenthal, Digidesign ETS

More information for you to take in on this. I ran digitest and found that the card order was wrong: 1. video card 2. scsi card(atto-dc) 3. Mix card 4. farm card. This is wrong? I got an error message 1220 from the digitest. The manual says that the proper order is: 1. Mix card, 2. farm card, 3. scsi card 4. video card. Is this correct? If it is what is the danger to my current project I cannot risk losing it and the back up drive is not here yet. If I disconnect my cheetah drives and switch all the cards will my whole project be f@cked? My producer is worried and so we continue to deal with DAE error -6042? Is this a symptom of card misplacement? What the damage steve. call me collect. 24-7 1-516-466-3331 Personel to talk to: engineer-george manager-eric producer- Jared Kotler

RE: help steve from sanctuary

First, go with the recommended card placement. It will not have any effect on the contents of your drives. The ATTO card will have a control panel called ATTO ExpressPro-Tools (not to be confused with Pro Tools). It should have come with the card, but if you don't find it, go to ATTO's website and download it ( ). When you install the panel, the installer will also place an extension in your system called ExpressPro Tools. Remove it. You don't want it in there. Launch this control panel. You will see each channel of the SCSI card, with the drives listed underneath. Double-click on one of the drives. You will then be looking at a window called Device Information. Look for the pull down menu called Synch Rate. If it is set to 40 (20), then you should set it to 20 (10). Click on the Apply To All button to adjust it for all devices on that channel. You'll have to repeat the process for the other channel as well. Quit the control panel when you're done. You'll be prompted to restart. That should take care of it. If your settings are alread at 20 (10), then card order is for sure the next thing to look into. ------------------ --Steve Rosenthal, Digidesign ETS
