Hey there, Trying to export an OMF Sequence from ProTools and getting this error, Could not complete the "Export Selected Tracks as OMF/AAF..." command because: Assertion in "Cmn_Property.h", line 113 The only thing that is different about this export versus others that I've done is that I have audio files linked as opposed to copy. I don't want to copy because all I need is the OMF Sequence because the person I'm giving the OMF to has the exact same audio files to link to. The export works fine with copy files selected. I'm using WAV files, I'm on PT6.4.1cs4, MixPlus system. Also when trying to do the same thing with an AAF I also get an error except it reads like this, Could not complete the "Export Selected Tracks as OMF/AAF..." command because: an unexpected error happened while writing an audio file reference into the file. Help, digi? Thanks, JR
Hey JR... You probably have a file with more than 31 characters in the name. While PT will not let YOU name a file with more than 31 characters, by using Audiosuite effects on files PT CAN do it. You will also get the same result if you try a "Save Session Copy In..." with copied media. The only solution we've found is to go through the files with long names and double click on each one and then attempt to click OK. ProTools will now inform you there are too many characters and allow you to rename. Start by looking for files with names that include a number sign and number in the name. These are files that PT lopped off to 31 characters when they came in and are the most common cause. Good Luck.
Hey Howard, Thanks for the suggestion, the files did have more than 31 characters however since we were just testing this scenario out first I just did a finder rename and reimported the files into PT. Unfortunately I am still getting the same error though. Grrrr. Any other ideas as to what may be causing this error? Digi? Thanks, JR
When I've gotten that kind of error in the past, trashing the Digidesign Databases folders usually did the trick. I'm not sure if it's the same exact error, but it's worth a shot. Jeff
Thanks for the suggestion Jeff, unfortunately that has not worked for me either nor the other normal troubleshooting tips. I've tried exporting this OMF every which way I can think of with "linked media" and still no dice. What gives Digi? I spend $600 CAN just to have software to import/export OMF's, software that is included in most other programs and it doesn't even do what it's supposed to. Would somebody else verify that you can indeed export an OMF from PT using "linked media" as opposed to copied or consolidated? Preferably someone with PT6.4.1. Thanks, JR
I have recently been struggling with the same problem, in the same version of PT. I only encouter this issue in long sessions, usually over 3 hrs. in duration. Did you ever get a definative answer?
OK, so I'm replying to myself. Doesn't everyone talk to themselves sometimes? I just tried to duplicate the problem on a system running PT 6.9x and there was no problem. Whatever the issue was, it has been addressed in later versions of PT. Couldn't someone from Digi have pointed this out?
Ya would've been nice if Digi could've said something. I don't understand why this is a PT version problem though, shouldn't Digitranslator be able to perform as advertised no matter what version of PT you're running? JR
