Fades Arent Being Applied

Basically what Im running into is that when I set a track to fade in or out the track starts or ends exactly as before. I cant hear any difference, Ive even shortened the track so that there could be no confusion as to whether or not Im hearing it fade in or out. I was under the assumption that simply dragging the fade line over the area you want to fade in or out on would do the trick. Any ideas? :(

It should do. Do you see the wave form change form change shape as you drag the fade line as it should?

Perhaps try experimenting with different fade lengths and shapes. For me, the default fade shape (gentle concave-down) doesn't really become noticeable until it reaches the halfway point (on the vertical scale). I notice the fade more when I change to the linear or concave-up shapes, or if I just start fading earlier. Try making the fade start at the beginning of the song, and run to the end. If you still don't hear it being applied, come back for more ideas.

could it be a monitor setting? Errant routing setting? I have never had this problem but I have not changed anything as far as monitoring. I couldn't tell you where to look either, just trying to brainstorm....

is it possible that fades cannot be applied to midi files? which is basically what Im working with.
