Hi guys, Would love your help here. In Pro Tools Le, I have created: - An Aux track - An Audio track I have Redrum from Reason inserted on an Aux track in Pro Tools. I have programmed a loop in Redrum with: -Snare -Kick -Hi Hat -Cymbals What I am trying to do is this...... When I record the loop into Pro Tools, to have each drum component on its OWN individual track, so for example, the snare gets routed to audio track 1, kick gets routed to audio track 2, and so on. What is the best way to set this up guys? Im not sure how to route each Reason drum component to a separate track in Pro Tools. How do you guys normally do this? By Midi? By Audio? I feel pretty clueless about this and have tried several things like changing the output channel from Mix-l and Mix-R to a channel number, but as soon as I do this, I get no sound at all. Do I have to create a separate Redrum machine in Reason for every drum component I wish to use? Any help greatly appreciated, along with how you guys normally record drum loops from Reason into Pro Tools would be FANTASTIC! Thank you in advance. Simon
In Reason route the individual drum channels (press tab to flip over to the outputs of an instrument, click and drag from the output to the input to make a cable) from Redrum to the Reason hardware interface ( the top most unit) starting with channel 3 (leave 1 + 2 as these are for mix L+R), ie: bd > channel 3 sn > channel 4 hh > channel 5 cym > channel 6 then make 4 new mono AUX channels in PTLE and place a mono Reason plug on each and set the in channel on the reason plug-in to 3,4,5,6 respectively. You can then add midi notes to play the Redrum in Reason or in PT. This workflow is the same for any instrument in Reason to PT.

I asked the same question a couple of weeks ago. The way I do it is the same as Chris Coleman. Here it is again. Lets do it for the kick Chris Coleman said: 1) Create a stereo Aux track in PT 2) Instantiate a DUAL-MONO Reason plugin (not stereo) 3) In the upper-right corner of the plugin window, unlink the L/R, and choose your Reason output channel for each side of the plugin individually. Click on L and choose the channel 3. Then click on R and choose channel 4. Now go to Reason flip, it over, and then connect the two cables from the kick outputs of Redrum (which is normally 1) to the audio out section (the very top module of Reason). Make sure you put those cables into 3 and 4. Then, when you do the snare, hi hat, the same applies but you assign two different channels for each part. Ive pretty much said what the others said, but I thought I might say it again. Its pretty straight forward, so youre probably just overlooking one tiny detail, so play around and hopefully youll get it. Jak

Hi Jak, Thank you mate!!! Got it working thanks to you and the other guys who posted.... Cant thank you enough!!!!! Just one quick thing..... When you record each drum component into Pro Tools, do you use Midi tracks in Pro Tools, or do you do your entire drum recording FIRST into Reason, then when happy with all the patterns, do one recording straight into Pro Tools, with all the patterns pre arranged in Reason first? The reason I ask is that if you do recording of audio, and you find you make a mistake, or need to edit half way through a song in Pro Tools, this might be a slow way to do it. Just want to find out what you gurus do with arranging your drum patterns and the method you employ to do your recording into Pro Tools. Thanks so much for your help...really appreciate it. Simon
